Groundbreaking Housing News for Unhoused Seniors in the City of Cudahy

The LACDA celebrated alongside

The LACDA celebrated alongside California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, City of Cudahy Mayor Elizabeth Alcantar Loza, City of Cudahy Vice Mayor Cynthia Gonzalez Ed.D, and City of Cudahy Councilmembers Martin U. Fuentes and Daisy Lomeli, for the groundbreaking of the Amanda Villas in the City of Cudahy.

The Amanda Villas will provide housing to low-income seniors, seniors experiencing homelessness, as well as seniors experiencing homelessness and mental illness. Residents of the 140-unit villas will have access to various amenities such as laundry rooms on every floor, an underground parking area, office spaces, a courtyard dog park, bike storage, a plaza, and other outdoor community areas. The four-story residential building will also include a one-story commercial space where a community-serving health care center will be located. One portion of the health clinic opened to the public will treat clients of all ages, and another portion will be a Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) center, which focuses on clients 55 years of age and up with chronic conditions.

Supportive care services will also be available through lead provider, Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol & Drug Abuse, to assist special needs of residents such as physical and mental health, and substance abuse services. Hope Through Housing will also provide on-site services to connect residents with community-based services, benefits assistance, and other resources available to assist in the adjustment and stability in their new living environment.

Through combined funding from the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, the LACDA awarded this project $5 million in Affordable Housing Trust funds through Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) 26, $10 million in Supervisorial District 4 Community Program funds, $3 million in HOME Investment Partnerships Program American Rescue Plan (HOME ARP) funds, and over $3 million in No Place Like Home funds through NOFA 30. In addition to the $21 million awarded, the LACDA will also be providing 69 Project-Based Vouchers.

Thank you and congratulations to National CORE, Prima Development, and all the other partners that will provide senior residents at Amanda Villas access to a brighter and healthier future.
